One of the Texas electricity companies extended their service to my area, which gave me more provider options. Before the extension, I had a choice of two companies, and neither of them were to my liking. Their service was spotty and their customer service wasn’t that great either. I was considering leaving behind the energy companies entirely and getting some solar panels installed, but I didn’t have the money to do that, and I was also worried about my roof looking unsightly.
I switched services from my old company to the other electricity company and I couldn’t be happier. With the old company, I had problems with the power going out at the most unfortunate moments. There were time when I wanted to watch a show, and the power would just shut off the cable. I couldn’t even record the show to watch later, because the DVR wouldn’t work with no power. This especially gets annoying when you want to watch a sports game that won’t be televised again, nor will it be available online to watch in its entirety. Watching short clips of a sports game just isn’t the same as watching the full thing as it happens.
The only time my power has ever gone out with the new company is when a really bad thunderstorm came and even then, the power only stayed out for 10 minutes. The last time a storm came when I had the old company, the power was out for 6 hours. Trying to do things with candlelight and dull batteries is a major annoyance, and cooking food is even worse. I don’t have a grill, so I had to use old fuel cells that I got from a party store to cook a can of pork and beans and some hot dogs.
